Camiel Eurlings and Feleknas Uca say Turkey's decision to drop case against novelist Orhan Pamuk must be only the start

Brussels, 24/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - Turkey's decision to drop the case against novelist Orhan Pamuk is being welcomed in Europe, particularly by MEPs. Echoing Commissioner Olli Rehn, however, they point out that this is just one case among many of people hauled before the courts in Turkey over freedom of speech, and call for Turkey to re-write its penal code (see Europe 9115).
