Brussels, 24/01/2006 (Agence Europe) - As expected, the 24 January ECOFIN Council went along with the European Commission's recommendations that the UK has an excess budget deficit that should be brought back below the 3% cut-off point by the end of the next financial year (1 April 2006 - 31 March 2007, see Europe 9107).
