08/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - The French banks BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Groupe Crédit Agricole and Groupe Banque populaire have sent a letter of complaint to the European Commission, to urge the institution to conduct an investigation into the creation of la Banque Postale which, they claim, will bring about many distortions of competition. Last week, the French banking authorities had given their green light for this new bank to be launched as of 1 January 2006.
