06/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - On six December, CISL and Solidar launched an appeal to the WTO to take account of the consequences of liberalising the textiles and clothing sector "everywhere in the world". In a report entitled "The other side of the model: the liberalisation of trade in textiles and confection has the most to offer the countries playing the card of the most unfair competition", they stress that Africa will suffer this most serious social consequences of unfair competition from China. Another report entitled "Blind Faith" warns that this liberalisation will bring about structural changes which will be difficult to manage.
