06/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - Javier Solana, EU High Representative for CFSP, welcomed the appointment of Charles Konan Bany as prime minister of the Ivory Coast during the transitional period. Solana, his spokesperson Cristina Gallach says, welcomes African mediation conducted by Presidents Obasanjo, Tandja and Mbeki, and assures that the EU will give its support to the new prime minister and to the government that it forms, as well as to the roadmap whose implementation should allow free and transparent elections to be held by 31 October 2006 at the latest.
