On 28 September in Strasbourg, the European Parliament adopted by 356 votes to 181 and 5 abstentions a resolution on opening talks with Turkey whereby it: - does not note that Ankara has met the conditions set but simply that the Commission and Council “consider” it to have done so (322 in favour, 282 against); - says that, if Turkey does not recognise Cyprus “in the very near future”, this could bring the negotiation process to a halt; - and calls on Turkey to recognise the genocide...
