EU agrees on common approach to tackle illegal dyes in foodstuffs

Brussels, 12/05/2005 (Agence Europe) - EU Member States have just agreed on a common approach to tackling recent contaminations of spices and other foods by industrial dyes such as Para Red and dyes similar to Sudan I, banned in EU food legislation due to cancer risks (EUROPE 8920). Meeting up at the EU's Standing Committee on the food chain and animal welfare, food safety experts from Member States gave their approval on Wednesday to proposals the European Commission submitted to them...
