Luxembourg, 27/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The Croatian prime minister provided assurances that he shared “the same objective” as Carla del Ponte, namely, the arrest of the fugitive Ante Gotovina but still believes that he is no longer in Croatia (EUROPE 8936). Ivo Sanader declared at the end of the working group meeting on cooperation with Croatia, in Luxembourg on Tuesday afternoon, that “We haven't come to fight” with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia's Prosecutor but “to work together, we share the same objective”. The launching of accession negotiations with his country and the EU has been suspended on the recommendation of Carla del Ponte on good cooperation with Croatia and the ICTFY. Mr Sanader, who until recently said that he was confident that negotiations could begin in June, was less ambitious on Tuesday, indicating simply that he would do his ”utmost”. He put much emphasis on the fact that what was expected of his country was full cooperation with the ICTFY and not the arrest of Mr Gotovina. Sanader stated that he had received no information indicating that Gotovina was in Croatia but made no comment on whether he had received information proving that he could be found elsewhere.
