Prime minister in the first European Parliament elected in 1979 and still a member of the Constitutional Council, Simone Veil will be campaigning for a “yes” vote on the European Constitution in France. To do this without affecting her neutrality, she has asked for a break from the Constitutional Council from 1 May to 29 May (a month for which she will not be paid, (as pointed out by Le Monde).
