Brussels, 08/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - “Iran cannot under any circumstances relinquish its right to trade in uranium to obtain fuel for civil nuclear facilities”, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Kamal Kharazi told Le Monde, adding that “the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is a right”. Tehran was, however, prepared “to give objective assurances (…)that Iran is not seeking to acquire nuclear weapons”, which was “the objective of negotiations under way with the Europeans”, he added, stressing that the trade and technical, political and security cooperation agreement was the means of “establishing the atmosphere of trust needed to achieve this”. European and Iranian experts on Nuclear issues will meet in closed session on Monday in Geneva for a new round of negotiations.
