Brussels, 08/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - European Council President Jean-Claude Juncker welcomed “progress already made by Bosnia-Herzegovina, especially on legislative matters” with regard to the sixteen priority reforms that it had committed itself to and that had been identified by the European Commission in its feasibility study, he said in a statement on Thursday. Bosnia nonetheless needed to “continue to make efforts at all levels”, he said after a meeting with Bosnian Prime Minister Adnan Terzic, stressing above all the need for “full cooperation” with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). He also felt that “more effort is required” on police reform. Mr Juncker, who is also Prime Minister of Luxembourg, also said he hoped that once the Commission had published its assessment report on progress made by Bosnia, the Council would be able to mandate the Commission to open negotiations with a view to concluding a stabilisation and association agreement between the EU and Bosnia.
