Brussels, 04/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The president of the EU Council, Jean Asselborn, the Luxembourg minister for foreign affairs, met Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the vice prime minister and minister for foreign affairs in Bahrain (as well as being the acting president of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)) on 4 April, to prepare the EU/GCC Council on 5 April in Bahrain. The European Union and Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar) will be using this occasion to discuss the fight against terrorism, human rights and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the situation in Iran and Iraq, as well as negotiations on an EU/Gulf free trade agreement.
