04/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - Christoph Leitl, president of Eurochambres, had a constructive meeting in Istanbul last Friday with the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. At the meeting of the Eurochambres presidency organised by the Turkish Chamber of Commerce, TOBB (which has been a member of the organisation for forty years), Mr Erdogan emphasised how quickly the Turkish economy is catching up with that of Europe. Turkish growth is on a par with Chinese growth, inflation has fallen and Turkey has become a stable and reliable country, open to foreign investors, said the prime minister as quoted by a press release issued by Eurochambres. Mr Leitl spoke in favour of increased cooperation with Turkey, stating that “the economy can build bridges”.
