04/04/2005 (Agence Europe) - The 30 member countries of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) have until 15 July to propose candidates for taking over from the Canadian Donald J. Johnston for the post of Secretary General. Following a period for consultations that will allow candidates to put their ideas across on the OECDE's future, a decision will have to be taken by 1st December 2005 at the latest, to start work in May 2006. Over a five year period, the Secretary General will lead an organisation that is currently strengthening its activities (publications, statistics, exams per country in several domains of action for the public authorities) in the context of growing economic interdependence.
