Joint Parliamentary Assembly narrowly averts problematic presence of Zimbabweans hit by EU sanctions

Brussels, 19/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The possibility that the presence of uninvited Zimbabwean representatives could disturb the work of the ACP/EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (JPA), which opens in The Hague on Monday (see EUROPE of 10 November, p.11) has been averted. The Zimbabwean parliamentarian Kumbirai Kangai- who is on the list of Zimbabweans hit by EU sanctions and who was on the point of obtaining a visa from the Dutch Presidency- will not be taking part in the Assembly.
