Independent African banana producers consider Commission proposed custom tariff of EUR 230 per tonne is acceptable

Brussels, 04/11/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Union des Producteurs Independents de Bananes Africaines (UPIBA) has welcomed the European Commission's proposal of setting a EUR 230 per tonne duty on bananas from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, as part of the EU banana reform framework starting in 2006 (EUROPE 30 October p 13).
