EU to mobilise extra 80 million EUR to support enlarged African Union mission to make Darfur safe

Brussels, 26/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Union has decided to make available an extra 80 million EUR to support the enlarged African Union mission in Darfur. This sum will be drawn from the African Peace Facility, which is financed by resources from the 9th European Development Fund (EDF). It will be used to finance the deployment and operations of 3,144 African troops for eighteen months (mainly from Tanzania, Rwanda and Nigeria), whose mission is to ensure that the cease-fire...
