13/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - Gabor Demszky, Mayor of Budapest and member of ALDE at the EP, has decided to resign after a lengthy debate in Hungary on whether a Mayoral and MEP position were legally compatible, a press release states. Mr Demszky has taken the "difficult decision that it is best for both Brussels and Budapest that another member of the party (Ed: Hungarian Liberal Party SZDSZ) take over his role as MEP".
