Brussels, 13/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCIC) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is holding a public hearing in Brussels on 20 October on "The implications of proposed chemicals legislation (REACH) on the competitiveness of other industrial sectors". The president of the study group which put the report together, the Belgian Unionist Michel Nollet, will introduce and conclude the debates on: a) the implications of REACH for supply chains outside the chemical industry: (rapporteur: David Sears, followed by speakers from the metals, minerals, paper and leather industries; b) Innovations, competitiveness and employment in downstream industries (co-rapporteur Julius Hosman, speakers from the rubber, semi-conductor, cars and textile industries.
