Brussels, 24/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Further to the declaration made on Thursday by Enlargement Commissioner Günter Verheugen, stating that Turkey has now met all the political criteria for EU membership (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.4) and that it can therefore expect a positive recommendation from the Commission on the matter of opening membership talks, most members of the EPP-ED Group at the European Parliament reiterated on Friday their opposition to the "premature" opening of talks...
