Brussels, 08/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - The second Forum of Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Islamic Conference and European Union will take place on 4-5 October in Istanbul (on the eve of the presentation of the European Commission's report on Turkey's accession request to the EU). The previous ministerial of this kind took place in 2002, also in Turkey.
A press statement points out that "following the tragic events of 11 September", Turkey launched the initiative for reuniting foreign affairs ministers from the Islamic Conference, the EU and candidate countries (as well as observers) at the Joint Forum on Civilisation and Harmony: Values and Mechanisms Global Order", in order to create a "platform of dialogue between them.
