Shocked by abduction of humanitarian workers in Iraq, Commission and Parliament urge kidnappers to release prisoners immediately

Brussels, 08/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - As soon as the news broke that humanitarian workers had been kidnapped in Iraq, Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Poul Nielson and President of the European Parliament Josep Borrell expressed their outrage at the abduction which they condemn in the strongest terms. All call for the immediate release of two young Italian voluntary workers and two Iraqi employees who were kidnapped on Tuesday in Baghdad....
