Environmental NGOs, farm unions and consumer organisations urge outgoing Commission not to be hasty in setting threshold for GMO tolerance in conventional seeds

Brussels, 03/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - Just a few days before 8 September - the date when the Commission is expected to present its proposal on setting a 0.3% level of tolerance for adventitious or technically unavoidable traces of GMOs in other products (see EUROPE of 31 August, p.4) - a number of environmental NGOs, agriculture trade unions and consumer defence organisations have issued a warning against the dangers of such legislation not only for the environment but also for consumers...
