Sugar imports from Serbia-Montenegro can again benefit from EU preferential system

Brussels, 22/07/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday the European Commission decided to restore preferential treatment of sugar imported into the EU from Serbia and Montenegro, thus putting an end to a period of 15 months when the preferential (zero) tariff could not be applied. The preferential treatment was initially suspended in May 2003 on the basis of findings by the European Anti-fraud Office (OLAF), according to which the system in place in Serbia and Montenegro was totally inadequate...
