A woman who takes parental leave does so in her own private interest and cannot therefore demand advantages granted to men called up for national service, judges say

Luxembourg, 21/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - A woman who is forced to take parental leave in order to raise her child does so in her own private interest. A man, however, who does his compulsory military service, serves the nation. The two situations are not the same. Mothers at work, therefore, cannot call for any of the legal advantages granted to men who are compelled to leave their work in order to accomplish their military duty.
