Council is opposed to "EU" labelling of beef and veal

Luxembourg, 21/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Monday in Luxembourg, Member States raised objection to a suggestion from the European Commission aimed at allowing an indication of EU origin to be included on beef and veal packaging. This was the result of the debate by EU agriculture ministers on a Commission report on amendments to be made to the Community system for the labelling of beef and veal (EUROPE of 29 April 2004, p.16).
