21/06/2004 (Agence Europe) - Heads of State from 15 members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held a two day meeting in Abuja , Nigeria, where they approved the setting up on Friday of a force of 6,500 troops that can be deployed in crises in the region: rapid intervention force of 1,500 soldiers (called the "expeditionary force"), a complementary group of 3,500 soldiers and a reserve force of 1,500.
