Brussels, 14/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 19 May, the European Commission will decide to lift the moratorium observed in the EU since 1999 on new GMOs, by authorising the sale (for ten years) of Bt 11, sweetcorn for human consumption produced by Syngenta. To ensure full honesty, the Commission rejected the idea of French Commissioner Jacques Barrot to postpone this decision until after the European elections.
