Commission takes legal action against ten Member States for failure to respect legislation on air pollution

Brussels, 05/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to bring or pursue the infringement proceedings against ten Member States which, despite a call to order, are still not respecting fully Community environmental legislation. Here are the shortcomings, and the stage of the procedure reached:

France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal and Sweden will receive a reasoned opinion (second stage of the procedure under article 226 of the Treaty) for...
