Commission may open investigation into football match coverage in Germany

Brussels, 05/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has confirmed that it has received a complaint form the German Association of private cable operators (VPRT) according to which the public television channels ZDF and ARD used public funds to get rid of competition from private competitors in the coverage of football championships. Spokesperson Tilman Lueder indicated that the Commission was not currently able to say if the complaint warranted an official investigation but...
