Nearly all MEPs are pleased and underline importance of ratification phase, calling for a Constitution before European elections

Brussels, 29/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - After the work of the European Council on the European Constitution last Thursday (see EUROPE of 27 March, pages 3 and 4), nearly all MEPs said they were pleased with the result (except Jens-Peter Bonde - see below), but with slight differences.

Andrew Duff, who headed the Liberal component at the Convention, says: "At last the leaders of Europe have come to their senses. It is a shame that it has taken so long". The British Liberal Democrat warns:...
