EU condemns killing of Hamas spiritual leader and calls on all sides to refrain from violence

Brussels, 22/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Monday's General Affairs Council strongly condemned the killing of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the founder of Hamas, during a raid by the Israeli army in Gaza on Monday morning, and called upon all sides to prevent the violence from escalating. In a press release, Javier Solana, EU High Representative for CFSP, also condemned the "extra judicial killings" perpetrated by the Israeli army.
