EP adopts in single reading text of directive on sanctions against counterfeiting and piracy defined with Council

Strasbourg, 09/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - The directive strengthening the fight against counterfeiting and piracy should be adopted from April on by Parliament and Council. Approving the report by Janelly Fourtou (UDF) on Monday at first reading on respect of intellectual property rights (330 votes for, 151 against and 39 abstentions), the plenary endorsed a compromise prepared in consultation with the Council.
