Council reiterates firm message to Switzerland in tax on savings dossier, but stalemate persists

Brussels, 09/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - On 9 March in Brussels, Ecofin conducted a summary of the situation with third countries and the associated territories of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands on the issue of tax on savings (see also EUROPE of 6 March, p.9). The deadline of 30 June for the Council to confirm the entry into force of the directive on tax on savings for 1 January 2005, is getting dangerously close.
