Brussels, 17/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has adopted a proposed modification of the 1976 directive on restrictions on the sale and use of certain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) contained in extender oils and pneumatics. With this twenty-seventh modification, the Commission is proposing a maximum limit of 10 ppm for PAHs in extender oils used in tyre manufacture to soften the structure.
