12/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - On 11 December, Irish Development Cooperation Minister Tom Kitt briefed the National Forum on Europe on the priorities of the upcoming Irish Presidency regarding development policy and the fight against AIDS. On this occasion, Justin Kilcullen, Director of Trócaire, the Irish Catholic Agency for world development, warned against the risk that the EU might neglect Africa and simply concentrate in the future on relations with its "near neighbours". Tom Kitt also affirmed that the Irish Presidency would do everything it can to get the World Trade Talks back on track, after the failure in Cancun. According to a press release from the National Forum, Mr Kitt pointed out that the Presidency would work to "ensure the modification of those EU positions which contributed to the collapse of the talks earlier this year".
