67% of Europeans taking part in Eurobarometer survey are in favour of a European Constitution and 84% are for a referendum

Brussels, 10/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - On average, 67% of citizens in the enlarged EU support the idea of a European Constitution according to a Flash Eurobarometer. This percentage, however, is 70% in the EU15 and only 52% in acceding countries. Those most in favour are the Italians and Hungarians (83% in both cases), followed by the Spanish (79%), the citizens of Luxembourg (77%), the Greeks (76%), the Irish and the Belgians (73% in both cases), the French (72%) and the Germans (69%).
