Competitiveness Council welcomes Commission's efforts to amend its revised chemicals legislation but most Member States are still concerned about its impact

Brussels, 10/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - All the ministers who took part in the public debate on Monday at the Competitiveness Council on updating EU chemicals policy agreed that the REACH programme, unveiled by the Commission on 29 October (see EUROPE of 30 October, pages 9 and 10) marks substantial progress on the preliminary draft unveiled in May, particularly with regard to its financial impact.
