06/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - On 30 October the European Commission adopted a draft decision concerning to Canadian accession to the agreement covering the creation of an international centre for science and technology between the United States of America, Japan, the Russian Federation and the European Union. The Commission is encouraging the Council to approve Canada's accession to the centre created, in 1992, to provide weapons specialised scientists and engineers (notably of weapons of mass destruction or missile launching systems) from the Russian Federation and other countries of the CIS with the possibility of directing their abilities towards peaceful activities.
