Brussels, 06/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - With the adoption on Thursday in Brussels of the report by Freddy Blak (GUE/NGL, Denmark), the European Parliament granted discharge on budget 2001 execution to the five decentralised agencies which had not received this authorisation in April (for technical reasons: EUROPE of 9 April 2003). The agencies are: the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia, the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, the European Environment Agency, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, and the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union. The plenary rejected the amendments of the Liberal Group calling for candidates to the post of director of these agencies to be heard and interviewed by the relevant EP committees.
