Aid to Spanish coal mining industry must be recovered

Brussels, 05/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission decided that part of the aid granted in 1998, 2000 and 2001 to the Spanish mining company González y Diez S.A should be recovered. Following an investigation opened in February, and after having examined the comments and information provided by parties concerned, the Commission concluded that part of these aids had been incorrectly used and called on Spain to take measures necessary for the recovery of this aid.
