29/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - On 18 June 2003, the Administrative Committee of the European Communities for social security of migrant workers adopted several decisions concerning the European health insurance card and its technical characteristic. This card will replace, from 1 June 2004, the present E111 and E111B forms providing access to care during a temporary trip outside the member state of origin or residence. To ensure a smooth transition, the forms will nevertheless remain valid until 31 December 2004. The member states that do not have health insurance cards may request a longer transition period, until December 2005. These decisions have been published in the Official Journal L 276 of 27 October 2003.
