Parliament wants new initiative for universal moritorium under UN

Strasbourg, 23/10/2003 (Agence Europe) - In its adoption, in Strasbourg on Thursday, of a joint resolution by five political groups (EPP-ED, PES, ELDR, Greens/FTA, GUE/NGL), the European Parliament is calling upon the Italian Presidency to take immediate action for a proposed resolution to be table to the General Assembly of the United Nations, which is being held in New York at the moment, calling for the adoption of a universal moratorium on capital punishment.
