Draft Constitutional Treaty: Parliament insists on keeping to balance defined by the European Convention

On Wednesday, 24 September, the European Parliament adopted the report by Messrs Gil-Robles and Tsatsos with a view to the Intergovernmental Conference to open next Saturday in Rome. The full text of the resolution is published below. It recognises that certain improvements can be made to the draft constitutional treaty but mainly insists on the need to respect the result reached by the Convention chaired by Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.
