30/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - Improvements in the draft Constitution presented by the Convention are still possible but it is necessary to "protect its content from compromises that could weaken the effect", the Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi said during his official visit to France on Monday. Italy hopes to "reach an agreement before the end of the year on a text that is as close as possible to that of the Convention", he recalled.
