14/07/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission will publish an assessment report on the state of preparedness of the acceding countries to management of structural funds. The report will take stock of the situation for each country regarding the ability of regional administrations to manage such large financial flows from 2004-2006. The Fifteen foresee devoting EUR 23 billion to Structual Funds for the new members for these three years. It will demonstrate that the Commission is "confident but vigilant", Community sources say. The document comes in addition to the general reports on the state of preparedness of these countries in all fields, the second version of which was published in June, the third being expected for early November.
