Commission calls for additional EUR 140 million over three years for visas and border control - New Communications on asylum and immigration

Brussels, 02/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission will propose increasing the EU budget for immigration policy, border control and fighting human trafficking by nearly EUR 140 million for 2004 to 2006. The extra money will mainly be used to co-fund border cooperation projects, the return of illegal aliens and the creation of an online visa database. This proposal will be included in the Communication on sharing out the cost of immigration policy and border control...
