02/06/2003 (Agence Europe) - In a statement last Thursday, the European Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin expressed his deep sadness at the passing away of Professor Ilya Prigogine, winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Busquin said he felt very sad personally, as a Belgian politician, but especially as a European Commissioner because Ilya Prigogine was a convinced European who made great efforts throughout his life to build Europe of research.
