Aid for closure of British coal mine authorised

Brussels, 27/05/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission on Wednesday authorised aid of ten million pounds sterling which the United Kingdom will grant to the company UK Coal. This aid will guarantee proper social conditions for miners losing their jobs after the closer of this undertaking's Selby Complex in spring 2004. The Commission believes that this aid conforms to the Council Regulation of 23 July 2002 concerning state aid to the coal industry, allowing companies to benefit...
