Echo mission to Baghdad to prepare for opening of office and Commissioner Nielson's visit to the country

Brussels, 25/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - Echo (the Community Humanitarian Office) will be sending an exploratory mission to Baghdad early next week to assess the humanitarian situation on the ground, and the possibility of opening an Echo office in the capital as soon as conditions allow.

Mission members will be meeting partner humanitarian organisations (United Nations agencies, the Red Cross and European NGOs), will visit Echo-funded projects and will prepare for Commissioner Poul Nielson's...
